This painting was inspired by a moment I captured from my family's trip to Denmark. In Frederiksborg Castle, there was a door in a stairwell that lead out to the courtyard. The door had a locked grate in front of it, though we didn't want to go that way anyway. But my father paused for a moment to look outside. He was nearly completely silhouetted, with just a faint hint of light reflecting around his shoulder and side.
The entire trip to Denmark had reflective undertones for my father and I. It was the first time he and I had been to the country our forefathers had called home. The trip had many moments of joy, wonder, and excitement. This was a quiet one, but one I loved witnessing.
